Smarter, Safer Cycling
Saturday, August 6th 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Sunday, August 21st 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
New to bicycling as an adult, have a new bike, new to group riding or are new to the area? You may find these pre-ride clinics helpful.
Chaz Foster, an American League of Cyclists certified instructor, along with other experienced Sound Cyclists ride leaders, will hold two pre-ride clinics. Discover some guidelines for safer, more efficient riding on the roads. Learn about the CT laws and your rights and responsibilities as a cyclist. Get some tips for riding with a group and have a chance to practice some basic skills. See if your bike and bike helmet are properly fitted to you.
Both clinic sessions start at 8:00. We suggest you arrive early to get your bicycles and yourself ready.
Dates/Times: Saturday, August 6th 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. & Sunday, August 21st 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Location: Westport Metro North RR Station, northbound (New Haven) side near the intersection of Ferry Lane and Rt 136 (off I-95, Exit 17)
Join us after the clinic at 8:30 a.m. to practice safer, more efficient riding on moderately paced rides with other members of Sound Cyclists. Choose from a 6 mile flat ride, an additional 6 miles with some hills or the full 22 miles with some more hill climbing. Details about the clinic and ride can be found on the SCBC rides schedule.
Note about pre-registrating: Below are buttons for each level of the two clinics. These will take you directly into the Ride Schedule and to the specific clinic to register. If you wish to ride afterwards, you can return to the Ride Schedule by clicking on Menu and under the listing for E or D rides, look for 6,13,22 Westport Ramble and register for the ride there.
Open to club members and adult guests of a club member. If possible, please pre-register for the clinic and the ride so we can contact you should there be any changes.
