Bring CASH for ferries!
We also will ask attendees to contribute for refreshments and SAG coverage (if we get someone.) This will be a token amount, about $10 per rider for the weekend for meeting refreshments if no SAG; $20 if we have SAG to pay for drivers gas, ferry and part of hotel. We will MEET Friday and Saturday after dinner at Fairfield Inn (8pm ish) with refreshments to help form pace groups and discuss route options for the next day.
Saturday Champlain Islands
If Weather Cooperates: Long Ride Saturday: 2 Options: 67 miles going up the NY coast and returning to the Ferry on the Champlain Islands OR Short Route on Saturday can be as short as 28 miles or as long as your legs will handle. You simply take the Ferry to the Island in the morning and ride up to the Lunch Meeting Spot "Heroes Welcome" - Round trip 28 miles if you simply return to the Ferry.
These two rides are listed in the RWGPS Library. Alan Sheiner has listed a C+ ride on 8/6 for the 62.6 miles ride on the SCBC ride schedule. Please pre-register. WCC has ride leaders to lead slower rides.
These routes has some gravel! But it is a memorable highlight and in good shape. There is also a slightly shorter option, but it doubles the gravel. WCC Ride Leader will lead the ride. Sunday: We DRIVE several Cars
SHARING DRIVE to the Essex to Charlotte Ferry which takes you to Charlotte, VT, than ride UP through Burlington and back up via the Island Line to the Ferry to Cumberland Head 34 Miles using Island Line and ride back 8.4 Miles to the Hotel. Port Kent is NOT running AGAIN in 2022.
At the end of the day, One or TWO Cars left at the Hotel in the morning, will take drivers down to their cars at Essex, and all drive back. This is because the Bike Ride to Essex Ferry is 39 miles. After 67 miles the Day Prior, Most of you will feel this is too much riding. Both Ferries are about a Half Hour of rest time.
Note: To work, we need cars with racks to be able to car pool to the ferry. Even if coming solo, please bring the biggest rack you have!
